Primary Aims
1. To determine the 30-day, 90-day, 1-year, 5-year and 10-year all-cause mortality following DFR for periprosthetic distal femur fractures across the NHS orthopaedic units in the East of England.
2. To evaluate inter-hospital variation in 1-year mortality across contributing centres and identify centre-level factors associated with outcome.
3. To assess return to baseline mobility following DFR, measured by the Parker Mobility Score (PMS), compared to pre-injury baseline — applicable to all patients regardless of cognitive status.

 

Secondary Aims
4. To identify patient-level risk factors independently associated with 30-day, 90-day and 1-year morbidity and mortality.
5. To characterise the early and late complication profile of DFR in this region: PJI rates, aseptic loosening, mechanical failure, revision surgery, and wound complications.
6. To record time from injury to surgery and evaluate its association with complication rate and mortality.
